About the company

A Melbourne workshop for the electrical half of light electric vehicles.

Voltcycle Pty Ltd was set up to handle the work that sits between a bicycle mechanic and an electronics technician — and belongs to neither.

What we do

One narrow field, done properly.

E-bikes and e-scooters fail in ways ordinary bikes do not. Range collapses over a winter. The motor cuts out on a hill and comes back on the flat. A charger sits there and does nothing. These are battery, controller and wiring problems, and they need a bench, a load tester and time — not a guess and a replacement part.

Voltcycle is organised around that work. We test packs to find out what is actually wrong, repair what can be repaired, rebuild what is worth rebuilding, and take responsibility for what has reached the end of its life.

We work with private riders who want a commuter bike to last, and with small delivery and hire operators in Melbourne who need machines back on the road quickly and want to know which packs in the fleet are on the way out.

How we work

The same four stages, whatever arrives.

A lithium pack's life is measured in charge cycles, and our process follows it from the first bench test to the last.

  1. Diagnose

Nothing is quoted before it is measured. Capacity, cell-group balance, BMS behaviour and connector condition, written up so you can read it.

  2. Restore

Repair beats replacement wherever the pack, the motor or the controller can be brought back to a safe, predictable state.

  3. Re-use

A pack that can no longer hold up under a rider may still be sound for low-drain, stationary use. We rebuild those rather than scrap them.

  4. Recycle

What is genuinely finished is discharged, packed to the dangerous-goods rules and passed on for material recovery. Lithium does not belong in a kerbside bin.

How we operate

Commitments we hold ourselves to.

These are working rules, not slogans. They decide what we quote, what we refuse and how a job is written up.

Everything in writing

Test results, the recommended work and the price come to you as a written report before anything is dismantled or ordered.

Safety over turnaround

Swollen, punctured or water-damaged packs are isolated and handled under our storage process. We will say no to a repair that cannot be made safe.

Repair before replace

A new pack is the last option, not the first quote. If a cell group, a BMS or a connector will fix it, that is what we recommend.

Who we work with

Riders and small fleets around Melbourne.

  • Commuters whose e-bike range has quietly halved over a couple of seasons
  • Cargo-bike owners carrying loads that push a drivetrain and a battery hard
  • Delivery and hire operators who need fleet packs assessed before they fail mid-shift
  • Riders holding an old or damaged pack they do not know how to dispose of
  • Owners of imported machines where the original supplier is no longer contactable

Bring us the bike, or just the battery.

Tell us the symptoms and the make, and we will tell you what testing the job needs before you commit to anything.
